~Life In The Fast Lane~

Holy Moly, I can't believe it has been a week since my last post! I blame it all on, Living Life In The Fast Lane! I don't even know where to begin....but believe me, it has been busy around here this last week! I will sum up the week by telling you about our annual church marriage retreat....held in Pigeon Forge, TN every year! The last 2 years it has been at the Christmas Inn, which I know, y'all are probably sick of Christmas decor about right now....but this is a must to show you all! This year the theme of the retreat was Mexican, everyone had to bring a Mexican dish! Sorta hard to do for me, cause I don't care for Mexican food.....therefore I didn't really have any recipes that I felt like I could fix with confidence.....so I did the next best thing....... I emailed Jan and ask her if she had anything....Y'all know Jan and her love for cooking....so I knew she would come through for me....and she did! She sent me 3 Mexican recipes in about 3 mins. I couldn't believe it! This is the one, I chose to fix....Mexican Pinwheels.....Easy Peasy and Delish!!!!!
2 blocks of cream cz....Y'all know it's good now, don't ya!
1 pkg of taco seasoning mix
2 green onions
red bell pepper....chopped
celery stalk....chopped
4....12 inch tortillas
shredded cheddar cz
Mix cream cz, taco mix and green onion
Spread mixture on flour tortilla, sprinkle with cheddar cz, bell pepper and celery......
Roll each tortilla tight and wrap in plastic wrap.....refrigerate for at least 2 hrs....I let mine set all night.

After they have set....slice about 1 in and enjoy!......These are a crowd pleaser and Easy!!!!! Oh, you can also add black olives to these...but I don't like them...so I omitted them. Thank you so much Jan for the help! I will be making these again! If you have never been to Jan and Toms Rose Haven....Run over there soon....They have a fabulous blog, that I enjoy so much, and I know you will enjoy it too!!!!
Okay...let's move on to Shopping!
I didn't do a lot of shopping....but I did take a quick trip to Old Time Pottery...There I found the toile fabric...it's about 2 yards....I have plans to make a valance for the kitchen window and maybe some napkins....I'm going to try to stretch that toile fabric as far as I can...I would have bought more of it, but that was all they had. The fabric was 4.99 per yard so for 10.00 bucks I couldn't go wrong! I also found the little brown bird there...and he will become a tassel soon. Then On to Tues. AM....All I found there was the silver tone Christmas ornaments....I think these will become tassels too :) Next we went to a store that I do not remember the name of it....but there I found the red Santa tin boxes, and the birds, yes, more tassels! Then, We had to make our must stop at Russell Stover....The only candy we like are the Coconut Clusters...so we didn't do to bad there...just bought 1 box! Finally, we stopped by the flea market and gals, I finally found more Roosters! Yippee! Some of y'all know, I have been looking high and low for them, some of you have been waiting so patiently for a Rooster Tassel...well, your wait is almost over! I will get these made up ASAP! I think.....that sums up the shopping.
I will show you a tour of the Christmas Inn next week....It is one of the best places you can stay in Pigeon Forge, It is decorated all year with Christmas Decor, it is a gorgeous place!
I have received several awards lately...I am going to post them at the end of the month...I am trying to keep track of them...and at the end of each month I will post the awards I have received for that month! I do appreciate every award, and I feel so honored to receive them!!!!
I am approaching that 100th post real soon! Y'all keep watching....there will be a giveaway for the celebration!!!!
Thank you all so much for stopping by, I will be around to visit with you soon!
Blessings to you all, Nancy

Well, I am sooooo happy that you tried these and approve!!! I told you they were EZ and very good!!!

I was surprised when I came to visit and saw pictures of my roll-ups...then saw all the nice things you had to say about us and our blog. Thank you so much!!!

Believe it or not...but I have my very own TRIED & TRUE cookbook, with over 2,500 recipes on my computer. That's what makes it so EZ for me to send off recipes...and to do my "From My Kitchen to Yours" posts. I've been compiling it for 3 years...and add to it as I try a recipe (and usually add my own personal touch to it).

I love your pretty toile fabric...and all of your other fabulous finds.

Sounds like you had a really good shopping day. Can't wait to see these tassels you will be making.

I am like you, don't care much for Mexican food (my family does) but that recipe looks good and I think I might just make that for Super Bowl, thanks.

Hi Nancy,
I always look forward to your lastest post. I love Pigeon Forge but I haven't been there since they opened the Christmas Hotel so I am looking forward to seeing your pictures!!!
Looks like you had a great shopping day. I love the thought of the Rooster tassel! Oh and the fabric is beautiful!

Hi Nancy,
That recipe sounds delicious. I will definitely have to try it out. Wonder if a bit of jalapenos would be good in it? Hmm...
Love your purchases expecially the toile fabric and the brown bird. I love birds and I have one similar to yours standing on my tv armoire. They are too cute!
Your pups are absolutely adorable! I too would like to hug and squeeze 'em.
Your father's spice cabinet is very sweet. Nice addition to the kitchen and very functional. Can't go wrong there, huh?
Stop by tomorrow. I am having a OWOH giveaway.
See you there.

Stopping by through SITS. Lovely, lovely site. The reason I'm commenting on this particular post is your mention of Pigeon Forge. I SOOOOOO desperately want to take a mini vacation up there.
I was going to add "how can you not love Mexican food" but then realized I am the only girl in South Louisiana that doesn't like seafood. Go figure.
