Help Wanted

I love cooking in my kitchen but I'm so ready to eat out!

Help Wanted? Yes! Quarantine cooking is wearing me out!
But until we can once again eat out, I'll enjoy every memory we make sitting and eating, laughing, and crying (at times) , missing our friends and family, and thinking about the day the restaurant signs say open for business!

Simple Fall Vignettes

Fall is such a glorious season! Full of festas, food, lighting a fire, cool nights and warm days. A time to count our sweet blessings and be thankful for Gods goodness in our life. It's a time to slow our roll before the Holiday season. It's a time to sit by the fire, cozy blankets, glowing candles, baking pies, and cookies, walks in the woods, sweet little pumpkins, and Hallmark movies! HA!

Simple and Welcoming. I don't go all out for Fall decor. I try to keep it simple but cozy. The foyer says Fall has arrived with green pumpkins and dried fruit slices.๐Ÿ‚ Welcome Home!

I love for my foyer to say welcome to all! Make yourself at home!  When my kids come to visit I want them to feel they are home!

Simple and Pumpkin-Spiced. A kitchen vignette using a vintage silver tray with a variety of Fall scented soaps.๐ŸŽƒ Cleanliness!

Nothing like a good smelling clean home!  Keeping it tidy is a must for me to function by day and sleep by night! ;)

Simple and Sweet. As the saying goes we must take the bitter with the sweet.๐Ÿ‚ Seasons of Life!

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8

Simple and Bountiful. A kitchen Fall vignette on the end of the counter and the warm glow of candlelight for those darker nights.๐Ÿ‚ Blessings!

What we plant, we harvest in every aspect of our lives, including the spirit that fills our homes! If we want to harvest joy, goodness, and bountiful celebrations in our home, we must plant joy, goodness, happy thoughts. It matters to our family!

Simple and Charming. Cubby cute little pumpkins sweetly stacked in the dish closet. ๐Ÿ Joy!

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13

Simple and Warm. Bringing out the warm cottage vibes with cozy, fuzzy, and comfy blankets hanging in the living room.♥

Home is our stage! It's our place we come to at the end of our day, its the place we call ours. Making it simple but warm, cozy and welcoming is my goal. I know its hard to get in the Fall mood when Summer lingers but but there is something about walking in that door and feeling like I'm at the coziest place on earth. I hope you find the inspiration to plant thoughts of simple, cozy, warm and welcoming in your home.

Blessings to you all, Nancy

Vintage Cottage Style Kitchen Tour

Hello Friends! Welcome to the heart of this home, the kitchen.  I'll be sharing a little bit of our kitchen for Style Showcase.

This kitchen has become the hangout for every get together we have.

This counter is our favorite place to eat most of the time, but my favorite times are sitting here with friends and family, sometimes just sharing a cup of coffee and conversation.

I love to use things that belonged to my momma in my kitchen, from cooking utensils to some of the decorations.  Those little crochet potholders in the glass cake stand were my mommas!

The food pantry turned into a dish closet with a glass window to see all the beautiful white dishes was  must for me. I really needed the storage for the pretty things, and it's all about the dishes, right?

Chairs and pillows are a issue for me! My hubby complains that we have all these chairs but only the pillows can sit in them.....

This lamp and the plates were mommas. It makes me smile every time I turn this lamp on!

This island cart was a Home Goods find.  I use it to hold cook books, dishes, towels, and sometimes when I'm in the cooking mood (ha!)  you might find potatoes and onions in the drawers. We put hardwood floors throughout our home when we built. I have had hardwood in my kitchens for years and I love the look. They add a cozy warm feeling with the white cabinets.

I have 99 problems but dishes, chairs and pillow don't count as problems.  HAHA! :)

Pretty vintage plates are another collection I enjoy hunting for! And yes we use those plates sometimes.  The plates on the wall are not finished. I have a few more to hang there but Im planning to put a coffee station there and will wait until I have that project completed before finishing the plates. And as you can see there is another chair with a pillow. :)
Behind the sliding door is the laundry room, that I will share at another time.

So this sums up this little kitchen tour.  Thank you for stopping by today, I appreciate every visit and reading your comments make my day!

Sweet Blessings to you all, Nancy

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice and wow y'all were so nice to leave the sweetest comments on my last post!  I want to thank all of you for stopping by and taking the time to be so sweet!  I didn't even know I had comments on that post until today! That's how out of the blogging loop I am! I don't even know how to reply to the comments yet HA!  But please know you have made my day!  If I could hand you a muffin and say thank you I would!

Pumpkin Spice Muffins

I know y'all have seen this recipe on Pinterest! They are so good and easy peasy to make!  That's my kind of recipe! I have made 3 batches already this year! Just incase anyone hasn't tried these heres the recipe.

1 Box of Yellow cake mix or Spice cake mix (NOTE: if you use yellow just add fall spices to the mix! It makes a huge difference!)
1 Regular can of pure pumpkin
Optional: I add 1 beaten egg and a little vanilla
Mix together with mixer
Fill muffin cups about 2/3 full
Bake at 350 until done

Who knew the things we could make with a cake mix before Pinterest!

I love to give these to friends and neighbors and even the mailman if I see him. It's fun to make someones day with a little thoughtfulness!

As Always, Blessings to you all!  Nancy

Ever have one of those moments of, OH NO! I've made a booboo???  Can you relate?  For me it's happened so many times with decorating, either wrong paint colors or bad rug decsions, you know those 'easy fixes' but what about with, something expensive and ginormous? You can't just take your receipt and the COUCH back to the furniture store, HA! You guessed it already right?

Can you imagine standing in your living room after the delivery man leaves and saying things like, what was I thinking?! How will I explain to my husband that the vacation money we AGREED to spend on the couch was a booboo!!  And how to explain that we might have to climb over the back of couch so we can sit on it....OH LORDY!!!!  How did I goof this one up!!!  I don't make these kind of booboos!!!

There is tons of room behind the couch, just not enough room to walk on the left side of the couch, and would you look at those seams. We made several trips to Home Goods looking for a very LONG table to put at the back of the couch, never found anything.

As the days went on I became more comfortable about life with this couch, but I couldn't shake that closed in, cramped feeling.  My wheels were always turning!

On the good side, we all love the comfort, including Nash! It is exactly what we wanted. It's the perfect spot to read, nap, movie watch, and eat ;)

In walks one of my best friends and she says, "try this here, try that there" then she said, "get your furniture sliders out" lol.

And just like that in 5 mins my struggle was over.  Problem solved!  That's what friends are for, right?!

Everything looks balanced now and there is plenty of room to walk all the way around the room :)

So thankful for a couple of friends right now. First, the one who helped me figure out what to do with my living room struggle. Friend, if you're reading...Thank You!

Next, Stacey at Poofing The Pillows We go back several years. When I had to put blogging aside for a few years Stacey stayed in touch and has always encouraged me to come back to blogging.

I want to thank her for everything! She is the sweetest ever and has featured my homes on her blog a few times over the years. Today is another one of those features, so to see more of Crest Pointe Cottage hop on over to Poofing The Pillows and let Miss Stacey know you stopped by.

More about this come back in future posts.

As always, Blessing to you all! Nancy

Seems I have the hardest time getting this house all decorated the way I want….or do I….sometimes I just really feel CONTENT and really don’t feel the need to be changing things!  And I have to say….I LOVE CONTENTMENT!!

Let your conversation be without covetousness and be content with such things as ye have, for he hath said I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.  Hebrews 13:5

DSC08862 I have ideas of things I would like to do, with my home, but it isn’t a priority with me anymore!  Being with my family and friends, being happy and CONTENT is my priority!   It has been my prayer for many months that CONTENTMENT overflow in my life!  And let me say I AM CONTENT!

When I saw this picture, while Christmas shopping……

It spoke to me!!!!!

I fell in love at first sight!  I love angels and I had several angels still packed away that I had before we moved.  I just knew that this picture would provide the inspiration I needed to get me started with GETTING THINGS DONE!

The verse under the wing…says For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  Psalm 91:11

It still needs to be hung, and I have someone coming, in a couple days,  to finish hanging things that I can’t.  I might change out the candles with some type of floral arrangements, but I’M CONTENT with it just the way it is!

DSC08855 I googled the word CONTENTMENT….and this is what I found…

content 2 (kษ™nหˆtษ›nt) [Click for IPA pronunciation guide]

mentally or emotionally satisfied with things as they are

assenting to or willing to accept circumstances, a proposedcourse of action, etc

( tr ) to make (oneself or another person) content or satisfied:to content oneself with property

peace of mind; mental or emotional satisfaction

I am so thankful for Gods blessings and for the peace of mind that I have!!!  I’m loving life, from drinking a cup of coffee in the morning to folding that last load of clothes before I go to bed at night!  I am ONE HAPPY GAL!!!

I hope and pray that if you don’t know that peace, that you find it in your life!   It is a peace that passes all understanding!

Blessings!!!!  Nancy

Fall Past 2011

Updating this post to Fall Past.

Paula Deen’s Chocolate Pecan Layer Cake!!!!!  TO DIE FOR! That icing is carmel…oh me, oh my!!!!!
This is a perfect cake for this time of year! There is just nothing that smells better in the house then baking a cake!  The icing is sooooo delish!  The smell will make you gain 5lbs…. ;)  I didn’t do a layer cake with this like the recipe calls for, instead I did a bunt cake.  This recipe can be found here

…..Welcoming Fall….Let me apologize for the blurry pictures coming up!  The battery was low on the camera…at least that’s what I’m blaming it on… ;)
I just love how Fall colors add so much warmth to a home, I guess that’s why I love those colors  all year!

DSC08755 Pumpkins sitting all around, candy waiting for trick or treaters, candles burning in the evening, and something good baking in the oven….just makes a house a home!

Post 4…..Replaced Rug…….
DSC08707  I’ve replace the rug in the great room…I love all things leopard and I love the warmth it instantly added to this area!

Told you I love all things leopard…even pumpkins!  Yes, I know its a yard stake but it’s a magazine stake inside… ;)

Post 5……More Fall
My son told me before I left for vacation, that I had waaaaay toooo much “stuff” on this table!  I told him to stick to learning business in college…and leave the decorating to me….lol….but I think he might just be right!  Thinking that rooster needs to go to the attic!  Notice the poofy napkins………

I love thick layered napkins…I used 3 napkins to get the poofy look.

Post 6…… Kitchen Picture ;)
The kitchen is looking better y’all!  Still looking for bar stools, found some I think I’m going to order soon.  Lets talk…………………

Post 7……. Tea Pots
Ran upon these at Marshalls the other day….could not pass them up….while I was waiting on hubby to grab a buggy to put them in….I had to guard them with my life!  One lady approached me and ask if I was going to buy all 3 of them?  Well, DUH!!!  NUFF SAID!
I just love the little birdies on the lids!  And since I HEART all things birds…I had to have them!

Post 8……..Let’s go see what down the hallway…….
Close your eyes…..it’s a surprise!

It’s a Duncan Phyfe dining set!  FINALLY…..after 6 mos of looking on craigs list I found one worth buying.  Looking for a sideboard now!
And notice the table runner….I purchased this from Sonya at Beyond The Screen Door Designs….Sonya does wonderful work!

The rug that was in the great room is now in here.  Next….get the pictures hung, Nancy!!!!!

Planning to change the seat fabric!! QUICKLY!!!  The black is okay, but I have something else in mind and it will be a quick and easy fix!

I fell in love at first sight with these chairs!  The chairs sold the table for me! And speaking of CHAIRS……….

Post 9……….. Remember these……..
chairs I got these at a yard sale back in 2008.  I showed them to you here.  I paid 10 dollars for both chairs.  Some one had tried to glazed them and really they were ugly…this picture doesn’t show just how U G L Y they WERE!!!!……BUT finally….

DSC08738 They have been refinished, repaded and new toile fabric!  They go wonderful with the new Duncan Phyfe.

Finally Post 10…..We have a new exercise program…. ;)
Her name is Miss Coco!  She is a full Chocolate Lab we adopted from the local shelter….she is 7 mos old, and we should have named her…..

Lucky….she had a “ruff” start to life…. ;)  She is a very good natured lab and we have just fell in love with her.  She will sit, stay or give you five!  She loves to fetch, play ball, run with toys in her mouth, OH and JUMP in the water!  She loves to take walks and we love to walk her!  She has really been good for us!  She keeps us moving and after 40 YOU NEED TO MOVE! ;)

Well….if your still with me on this long, forever post…..I would love to hear from you!  I appreciate all the comments and visits!  How I wish I could post more, but it’s just impossible for me at this time in my life, maybe someday that will change, as life is always changing, we never know what’s around the next corner.
I send y’all much love this Fall and I hope you enjoy this refreshing season, get out of the house and enjoy the beautiful and colorful sights!
