Variety Is The Spice Of Life

“Variety is the Spice of Life.”  This is one of my favorite quotes, and how true it is.

Grab you a piece of “spice cake” and let’s take a little journey.

spices2

Is life not much better when it is filled with a "variety" of the things we like? Of course it is. It is

inevitable that some things in your life will go wrong, so it is nice to have other things that you still enjoy to fall back on. Like investing, they always say, "Do not put all of your eggs in one basket." The same goes for our personal lives. The way to be happy is to fill our lives with a "variety" of things that make us happy.

For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord. Proverbs 8:35

“Life is full of experiences and lessons,  Life is the best teacher….sometimes we have to go through the same lessons again, until we finally learn!”  NancyRosalina

spices If you have a variety of things that make you happy, I believe this decreases the risk of becoming unhappy if just a few things go wrong. So, do not risk your happiness by not broadening your horizons and not finding and doing a variety of things that you enjoy.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life": in thy presence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

“Some life experiences are sour and sometimes we can become bitter after a sour experience!”  “Some life experiences are sweet, and some are full of spicy flavor!”  NancyRosalina

Before I move on, I want to THANK all of you for supporting me as I begin to go back to work!  Several of you have emailed or commented…asking me…..How’s your Job at VS going?????  Well…this is where the “Variety Is The Spice Of Life” comes in……………

I have said all that, to let y’all know…..my life sure has been spicey the last couple of years, there have been times the spices have just about made me sick!  But, there have been some sweet savory times as well!   There are still some “spices”…that just cause great sadness, and….I could just about get bitter. Spices I have never discussed here and never will!  But, I’m moving on, and I refuse to let some “spices”  bother me any longer!  I’m making some “spice” changes in my life, and one of those “spices”,  as you all know was a little job at VS,  but once again the “spices” took over and I ended up with a job at Belk!   For those that don’t know…Belk is a upper end department store.  Like, Dillard’s for example.

Do I like it????    YES!!!! I LOVE it!!!!!  Love the store, the managers, the gals I work with!  It is the perfect “spice” for my life at this time!  VS would have  just been  a little too spicey for me….LOL ;)

So what do you feel about the Spices of Life????  How do you handle life when it gets a little too spicey for you???

I’ll visit with y’all soon, but now, I’m off to watch Dancing With The Stars…….That Donny Osmond sure is “spicey”….. LOL :)

I’ll leave you with a great little Recipe For Life poem !

Recipe For Life~ By Gorgene Freedman

Sow your days with worthy deeds...
bestow all the fruits of life.
Have faith the size of the mustard seed...accept the bitter herbs of strife.
Drink of the vine with friend and foe...break bread with the lonely and meek.
Do all of these things and you shall harvest...the kingdom that you do so seek.

What a spicey little post that was! I love variety, it really is the spice of life, in my opinion. I love having many friends, but friends sometimes fail. That is when lifes spiciness hurts, when I have invested in something that seems to turn on me. I love decorating, I can always fall back on that and I enjoy reading Christian fiction. Those are the spices in my life. I loved your poems and scripture. They are truly delightful. And of course I always have my sweet husband, my son, my girls and my grandloves. I'm not sure if that was the response you expected, but that is where my mind went. Hugs and love, Cindy S.

Nancy, whatever those spices are that are getting to you...I love your attitude. Things change in life and sometimes they go in unexpected ways. Of course, so many of us are dealing with our kids growing up and moving on...or moving back. I think at this stage in our lives we have to be ready and willing to find our own "spice". I've spent a lifetime taking care of everyone else and now I'm wondering what the next thing in my life is.

Thanks for such an honest and timely post.

Oh Nancy what a great post!!! I think it would be easier sometimes if we could just keep things as they are...change is sometimes a bitter pill to swallow...sometimes though it gets us moving in a different direction...a better direction...it's all in the attitude. You have a wonderful attitude...so you are already ahead of the game!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by earlier...it always makes me smile to see that you have visited!!!

Good luck with your new job...Belk is a great store!!!

Loved this post. I've been away from visiting blogs for some time now...lots of "spice" happening in my little world, but God is good and the recipe usually turns out just the way HE wanted it to. (I'm kinda tired of cookin' with lemons though! : )

I shopped at Belk when I lived in GA...great store; I pray all goes well for you there.

Nancy,
It is nice to here from you again. About the "Spices of Life" I try to remember that "Those who anger you control you." I read this on a church billboard and almost stopped in the middle of traffic! Since then when people get to me I try to remember this and I am just stubborn enough not to 'let them control me'. It helps me stay focused on who I am & who I want to be.

Hi Nancy,
It seems like forever since we have visited each other, We both have been living spicy lives lately. LOL though yours seem more exciting than mine. I was just reading some of your previous post, tell me girl, how do you do all that you do.?I am so impressed, you are one busy bee, and you do everything so well.

Now as far as Belk, that is one Great store, and when I go to the mall, that is the first store I check out. Their products are great and so is their service. I would love to work there but I live so far away that my dh says it would not be feasible. So please keep me posted on how you are doing.

As far as dealing with the spice that comes my way, I am totally depended on the leading and guiding from the Lord.
I love your own quote, I call it going round the mountain again. And believe me i have gone around that mountain plenty of times. lol
You are such a blessing to me.

Hugs,
Sue

I hope you enjoy your new job! I love Belks!

I would like to say I handle life with grace when it gets to spicey, but unfortunately I often end up wanting to send it back to the kitchen (praying to God "why"? "Are you sure") I am sure that he gets a kick of me questioning his cooking 1/2 way thru if I would be patient and taste the end results it usually ends up to be something more delicious than I could of ever imagined!
