“Behind Every Successful Woman…

Is a fabulous pair of shoes!” And, I think Miss Phyllis proved that in Honey It’s All In The Shoes! I have to give all the credit for this Show Show to the book! As I read the book, I couldn’t help but think of my shoes that I had through the years! Every pair of shoes I thought about brought back so many memories of life’s foot steps! It was unbelievable how certain memories of shoes made me think of days long gone, like a cute pair of black patent leather shoes I wore in high school and the places I went in those shoes with my friends, or like my black and white saddle oxfords I wore with my cheer leading outfit, I remember walking in the Knoxville Christmas Parade in 1985 wearing those shoes.

I like just how Phyllis puts it in her book, “Just as no two women share the same shoe closet, no two women share the same exact life experiences. But it is our commonalities that interest me most. Women, as a rule, ten to love shoes, because they are an outer expression of who we are inside, at least for that moment.

I know we will all see some great pairs of shoes today, but I hope we come away from The Shoe Show, learning a little more about each other and the places our shoes have taken us in life, our dreams, our trials, and our successes and maybe learning a little something about yourself that maybe you haven’t thought about in a long long time!

Welcome to The Shoe Show~ I have always been a shoe nut! Really! They are just the most fun things to look at and shop for! I almost never get rid of a pair of shoes!!! You’ll see! They become like members of my family…I’m not kidding! For me to get rid of them, they have to be just WORN out or VERY uncomfortable!

DSC07300 This was one of the first pair of shoes I ever had! These are a pair of my Baby Shoes!!! As a child, my life’s dream was to be a wife and mother! Momma, even wrote that in my baby book! She said that’s all I ever talked about being!

DSC07286 And, in 1986, I became a wife! It was and will always be one of the happiest days of my life!

DSC07282 These are my wedding shoes! 23 years ago this past June 7th, I became that wife, I had always dreamed of being! Little did I know the steps I would take from that day forward!!! One of the steps I took was in 1989, becoming that mommy I always wanted to be and again in 1991!

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3

DSC07283

Who so findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord. Proverbs 18:22

DSC07284 I do hope I have been a good wife. I think I have, I have tired with all my heart, or at least I feel I have. I know there are days I wish I could go back and re-walk, things I wish I hadn’t said, and trying more not to sweat the little things. I think that is probably something that most all of us can relate to! But I do know I have spent the last 23 years with the best husband a girl could have!!! I mean EVERY word of that!!!!!!!! I could not even begin to tell all about the good times, for there has been far more good then bad!!! I can honestly say, I love that man more today then I did 23 years ago when I said I do!

DSC07287 I’m Crazy for Animal prints!!! I love to wear them and decorate my home with them!!!

DSC07289 I think they bring out the tiger in me… ;) my wild side! They do make me feel a little sassy!

DSC07291 Name Brands~ I love my Laura Ashley shoes! And, I always leave my ticket in the box….do y’all do that too?

DSC07292 These were bought in 2004. I still love them!

DSC07293Ralph Lauren~By popular demand, I had to show case these again!

DSC07296 I first saw these shoes at Dillards!!! Love them, wanted them, but couldn’t pay the price for them!

DSC07294

I watched and watched for their mark down to take place, but somehow I missed it! :( I never forgot about them! So thank goodness for EBAY!!! I found them!!! Got them for 15 bucks!!! That’s a seal of deal pair!

DSC07297 These are my journey shoes from 1996~ I know they are old and not one bit stylish anymore, and I don’t wear them anymore either. You see, these shoes carried me to Jenny Craig for 6 mos, every Monday morning at 11 I would make my little trip to JC and weigh in wearing these shoes, I wore them every week! When I look at this pair of shoes, I think about every single weigh in!!! I will never get rid of them, for when I look at them they remind me this….

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

DSC07298I have to put these shoes on from time to time and take that journey of weight watching and, It's bout that time again...to walk the road of weight loss success! lol ;)

There you have a little bit of my life in shoes! From my childhood shoes to my granny shoes, I'll wear someday, I do hope that I am successful at being a MOM and WIFE, for it has always been my dream!!!! Some of you may not have worn the same shoes as me, or the next person. We have all took different steps in our shoes, but one thing I know with out a doubt is I don't regret on single step I have taken!!!!

I hope you have learned about a part of me that I really don’t talk about much. I have shared a little bit of my heart with y’all today. I want to leave you with this poem that I am sure you have all read many times, but it is so beautiful and OH how I wish the person that wrote it could have received the credit!! This poems sums up my foot steps I have taken so far in my life.

Footsteps In The Sand

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him
he looked back, at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you,
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Hi Nancy,

Thanks so much for hosting this fun shoe party! I can't wait to read everyone's posts. I love your post, and the walk down memory lane, thinking of all the shoes I have owned, and places they have taken me.

For me, this party started out like a fun window shopping trip...a chance to oooh and ahhh over everyone's shoes. Unexpectedly, it turned into so much more...the realization shoes are a reflection of the milestones in our lives.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate. :)

It is SO awesome that you have your first pair of shoes, your wedding shoes, etc. And such good stories for each pair! I guess I can admit to you that I am not a shoe girl! I know, you are probably going to be very disappointed in me but I am happy with my flip flops and sneakers 99% of the time. I know, I know .... I am not the typical woman! Do you still love me? HA!

Beautiful post Nancy!
Our wedding shoes are similar to each others. lol
You have some adorable shoes. Loved all your sandals in the previous post, too.
I don't have any animal print shoes, so I'm trying hard not to covet yours. They are sweeties.

I am jealous of all these shoes. I have very narrow feet... And they prodnate. (flat) Comfortable shoes are so hard to find. I try to make sure I have one classic pair in every neutral color. When I mail order, I will usually send them back b/c of comfort or fit. Sigh.

I have learned to be happy in my rollerbar new balance and yellowbox flip flop (for summer) and enjoy all the beautiful shoes on everyone else's feet. :-) And I pray over my shoes to last me until I find the perfect pair to replace them... Right now I am looking for black pumps. The pair I have right now are still good, little pointy toed, but not worn out yet, but I don't want to wear them until they fall apart...

What a sweet post, Nancy, I am a little late coming by, unfortunately. I love the fact that you always wanted to be a wife and mother, that sounds like me and my little grand daughter now, too. You probably loved your little baby dolls! Did you wear your mother's shoes when you played? I always did, I remember staring longingly at her go-go boots, but I wasn't allowed to wear them. Thank you for the look into your life and a look at your beautiful shoes! You are one stylin' lady! I love the way you used scripture too. Hugs ~cindy s~

Thanks for sharing your beautiful shoes!!! I really love the Ralph Lauren ones! I love animal prints too! I added my post to your linky thingy, but I was really late. I thought about this post from the time you mentioned doing it, and I really looked forward to it, but my computer had issues last week and throughout the weekend, so I'm just now getting to post. Hope you don't mind my tardiness. If any contests are involved and there was a deadline, that's ok if I missed it. I just wanted to join in the fun!

Be Blessed!

Nancy,

I did not post about shoes...because umm, my hubby reads my blog... We don't want to draw too much attention to how many shoes I own. However, your sweet post makes me regret that I didn't write about something meaningful. You are such a wonderful woman I am sure you are a wonderful wife. Love your post.
