Lulu’s Tea Room

It’s Flaunt Your RED Friday, and we’re going on to lunch today girls! So put on your girly clothes, flip flops and lip gloss cause were painting the town RED, Tea Room Style!

Have you ever been so excited over something that you just couldn’t even think straight? Well Honey, that’s the way I feel today….I don’t even know if I can sleep tonight…LOL ;) ~We’re going to Lulu’s Tea Room~

DSC06413The Old Carpenter House sits in Powell, TN and now is the home of Lulu’s Tea Room. Lucky for me it is only a couple of miles from my house!!

DSC06414 It just doesn’t get any more Southern then this!

DSC06415 Lulu loves RED…did you figure that out already!

DSC06443This is the owner of Lulu’s Tea Room, Deana, aka…Lulu. Isn’t she beautiful! Well, let me tell you…she is beautiful inside and out! She is one of the friendliest Southern Lady’s you will eveh meet! And check out that apron!!! To die for!!!

DSC06417As you step through the front door, into the foyer, immediately to your right is the Living room of the house. It has a beautiful bay window…that I could not get a good picture of due to the light coming through, and notice the black and white pictures on the wall. That’s the original owners of the house.

DSC06418 DSC06419The front room also has a beautiful mantel and fireplace. Oh, but look at the REDS!

DSC06420 Lulu also loves leopard print/animal print….y’all I think I may have another sista. Me and Lulu are just alike!

DSC06421 The picture in the middle is the Carpenters Wedding picture. They are the ones that built and lived in this house until the 1990’s. The picture on the left is a picture of the house when they lived in it. The picture on the right is of Lulu and her family. Notice that RED rose Lulu put on the picture. LOVE it!

DSC06422I have heard that the Carpenters daughters come and dine at Lulu’s Tea Room. Bet their glad they can come and enjoy the house now….no more cleaning it and no more preparing the meals there either!

DSC06423Oh fiddle sticks…this picture turned out blurry! Check out that dawg…he’s holding Lulu’s business cards and don’t ya looooove that umbrella stand!!! Lulu, I promise if it’s missing I didn’t take it!!! ;)

DSC06424 Miss Paula’s in the house y’all…..Oh, don’t have a hissy fit…she really ain’t, but I do wonder how in the thunder, Lulu got that sign….HMMM?? Lulu is a huuuuuge Paula fan….well, shucks I would say she might just be a stalker…y’all, I anit kidding! How would I know that, well, cause I am one too!!! LOL ;)

DSC06449 This picture of this stair case doesn’t do it justice!!! It was such a tight fit…I just could get a good photo of it! But trust me….it is GORGEOUS!!!

DSC06450 As you come to the top of the stairs, you see the little girls tea room! It is Sweet As Tea! We’ll come back Y’all, we got to move on cause, there’s been an Elvis sighting…….

DSC06462 Oh honey, I’m All Shook Up!!!! Has Lulu nailed Elvis or what?! Just look at that mirror!!!!!!!!

DSC06461 How in tarnation am I going to get that mirror down the steps, out the door and into my car with out Lulu seeing me? ;) Come on Tutti Frutti’s , We’ll worry bout that latter, cause y’all gotta see the Sweet As Tea Room…..well that’s what I call it.

DSC06451 Oh to be a little girl again….

DSC06452 Carried away to a land of Fairy Tales,

DSC06454 Dreams……..

DSC06457 Make believe and Dress Up!!!!

DSC06458 Where the end of every day ends in Happily Ever After!!!!{Check out that door knob, oh honey!}

Back to being a grown up now that we have Elvis and Childhood Memories out of our minds…..

I love this room all dressed up in yellows, reds and animal prints!

DSC06427 Oh what pretty eye candy!

DSC06431 Simply Gorgeous!

DSC06433 Gotta get that chair in the car too!!!!! Cover my back y’all. Spill your tea or something….and I’ll make a run for it!

DSC06434 Told y’all she was a Paula Stalker! I’m a weeee bit jealous…over this….LOL ;)

DSC06435 Oh, I wish I had gotten a close up of the gorgeous…to die for….animal print purses in this cabinet! She has a fabulous collection!

DSC06436 Adorable, and for sale too!

DSC06471 That’s me to a T! My body starts to shut down with out Chocolate in my system!!!! It’s the truth!!!! ;)

DSC06439Here’s the Lulu part of this story~ Lulu’s words….With her brown curls, turn-up nose and chubby cheeks, no wonder my mother nicknamed me Lulu. With my middle name as Louise, it was a perfect choice. I seem to have a lot in common with this 1930’s cartoon character. My mom gave me this doll in the late 60’s. Thanks Mom for everything!

This doll above hangs in the foyer.

DSC06440 This other Lulu collection hangs behind the check out counter.

DSC06442 This was my view, from where I was sitting.

DSC06445This here is the real reason for my visit to Lulu’s! This is my Mom. It’s her 73rd birthday and she and I celebrated it at Lulu’s. But, I was glad to kill 2 birds with one stone….Mom’s BD and Flaunt Your RED! :)

DSC06441 Lulu’s Menu~ Did you notice Paula Deen Best Dishes!

DSC06448 These are the BEST chocolate muffins I have eveh had!!!! EVEH! And just look at that coffee mug…Daintiest thing I’ve eveh seen coffee served in!

DSC06466 This was my plate ….pecan chicken salad, tomato basil soup and fresh fruit!!! Lawd Have Mercy on Me!

DSC06468Mom’s plate, pecan chicken salad served on a lettuce leaf, side greens salad, tomato basil soup, and sweet bread{banana bread}….Lawd Have Mercy on Her!

DSC06472 Can I get one Amen?!! We live by our words…honey!

DSC06470 And that settles it! The best Strawberry Coconut Cake out of this world….Recipe below! Y’all listen, Lulu has become a regular on a local TV show that comes on NBC/WBIR here in Knoxville, it’s called Live at 5 at 4….don’t ask why…it’s confusing if you don’t live here! Anyway, Miss Lulu was on Live at 5 at 4 Wednesday making this cake. And that is FRESH whipped cream…I could tell that didn’t come from the freezer!!!!

I picked me up a couple…okay…a few of Lulu’s Tea Room Business cards, came home and stuck one in my chalk board in the kitchen, because…..I loooove Lulu’s!!! Isn’t that card adorable! Can you see the little animal print around the RED Tea Room?

Well, Did y’all get enough to eat? Really, I wish every one of you could go to Lulu’s and I want to mention that the service that you receive there is second to none!!! You really do get the royal treatment! Lulu and her staff go out of there way to make you feel like a Queen! We had such a great time and I hope to go more often! At the end of this post will be a link to Lulu’s website, there you will find everything about the tea room and directions too!

I want to send a great big Thank You to Lulu and her staff for the Southern Hospitality that they so graciously extended to Mom and Me. Thank You Lulu for letting me take pictures of your gorgeous Tea Room! See you Next Week! Nancy

Now it’s time for the giveaway. I hope y’all like Lulu’s Apron she was wearing…cause I found one very similar to it at Hobby Lobby. I did add the RED bows and they are just pinned on, so if you want to change them out to a different color, it will be easy peasy!
