I’m Not As Perfect As You Think

I can not believe I am going to show you what’s behind the pantry door, the bedroom closet door, and more…what am I thinking??? pantry door For those of you that think I have it all together….Please don’t go any further down on the page…just exit Southern Lady and come back in a few days when this post is heading toward the bottom of the page. LOL ;) I had so many questions and comments about my clean porch and questions asking do I really clean the porch windows weekly,Yes,I do! Every week in the Spring, Summer and Fall…..In the Winter, I only do them when we are having a warm day. Having a clean porch as always been a MAJOR issue for me….but I also have another MAJOR issue, that…well, shall I say needs improvement………….

fruit pizza and closets 002 I don’t like to clean the pantry….no sir reeeee! Nor, do I like to clean………

fruit pizza and closets 003

fruit pizza and closets 010 The mess behind this beautiful armor, in my bedroom! You won’t find a spec of dust on this armor, but….

fruit pizza and closets 011 The mess inside looks like a tornado hit it….That’s the words my Mom use to use on me, when it came to cleaning my closet and drawers, when I lived at home. My room was always neat as a pin, but honey my closet was a different story! I can still hear Mom saying, “ Clean that closet before you go anywhere!” “It looks like a tornado hit it!”

fruit pizza and closets 006 Well Mom, after all these years, things are still the same! It usually gets to a point that I HAVE to clean it, if I want to find anything. I try to keep it clean and neat, but it’s not my thing and it doesn’t bother me one bit that it’s a mess all the time. And after 40 years, I don’t think I am capable of changing my ways. LOL :)

There you have it….I’m not so perfect after all! ;) I hope I haven’t lost any followers and friends, but I didn’t want you to think to highly of me either…LOL :) I am sure Miss Janice will strip me of my Southern Belle Crown after this, so does anyone know if the North is taking applications for Northern Babes? ;)

So how about leaving me a little confession yourself! What is something, that you let go in your home? Something that doesn’t bother you, if it’s done or not? And on the flip side, what is something that you feel you have to do….you just have to…..you can’t let it go?

Now, I couldn't leave you on a messy note, so I want to show you what a sweet lady, we go to church with, made for us, and gave it to me at church on Sunday. It WAS so good! It’s a fruit pizza, OH Honey….I wish I could send you all a piece.

fruit pizza and closets 001 The curst was sugar cookie and I’m not sure what the icing or “sauce” was made of, but then on top of that was cherries, blueberries, oranges, bananas, and nuts. It was delish too!!!!

If you don’t see me around for a couple of days, I’ll be cleaning my messes!!!! :)

One more note, those of you waiting on tassels and wondering where in the world are they…..they are on they way!

Blessings!

Ha! I have super clean and neat closets and cabinets. However, I couldn't care less that the area under the washer and drier are dirty. Yep, there's a dirty floor under there. It doesn't matter to me, I mean, we don't EAT in there! :)

Nancy you are too funny!

I must say I'm a organization fanatic. Clean, organized closets and drawers are the norm in our home. It would actually bug me if they were messy. LOL!

My next home project is our garage. Not to organize it but to add a painted floor.

Have a wonderful and blessed Easter my friend.

oh, so brave to post pics!!! :0
My biggest mess is my closet.....anything that needs to be put away somewhere that doesn't have a space, gets thrown in there, plus I need to put away winter things and change out for spring/summmer things, but I'm not planning to actually SHOW it!!! :0

Hey Girl! Hope ya know I was just havin some fun bustin your chops over the porch thing. I think we all have a "porch" in our lives - me, it's the hardwood floors. I hate dust bunnies and I am forever sweeping the floors. I am a slave to my floors. I cannot help myself. So Nancy, IT'S ALL GOOD! Now don't get me wrong - I did breathe a big ole sigh of relief after seeing those pictures of yours! HA!!! Your a good sport!

Well, I feel a little better! I have thought, as I pass through my laundry room, that my blog friends would simple "recoil in horror" if they saw this mess!! It is on my list to REDO! It's a little far down the list though!

Have a great day!

Love your honesty!!! I make a pizza fruit pie as well. If you would like the recipe, it's on my blog under "recipes." It's one of the easiest things I make and the most delicious!! Enjoy your day!

Love it! You are braver than me. I was going to do a before & after post on my living room closet a while back and backed out. :-D I usually keep my home picked up and pretty clean, but please do not look under my appliances, or open certain closet doors. :-D.

Oh, Nancy, whew...I'm so glad to know you've some messy spots in your house! I did think you were just about the most perfect one! I feel so much better now!! :)
I hate to clean my closet too! I don't mind leaving dirty dishes in the sink over night. But my cook books must be always kept so neat.
Yummy, I've had fruit pizza before and it's so delicious! That was a very sweet lady!!
Be a messy sweetie,
Messy Shelia ;)

We all have those messy spots...guess they are the ones that you can close the doors on. Too funny! I could show a few horrible spots that I hide!

OMG - I just saw your post on the Inn at Christmas Place - that must have been before I started blogging. My family stayed there last August on vacation! We LOVED it!! It was the best vacation. We go to Pigeon Forge almost every year on vacation, and that was our first time staying there. This is why we LOVE Tennessee girl! (and Dolly Parton)

Nancy, you are so brave and funny. Don't pantries turn into a mess quickly? Mine does too. It can be neat as a pin one day and the next completely a mess after one trip to Costco or a husband digging around in there for a snack.
I'm kind of a good enough house cleaner. The thought of cleaning under my appliances never even occured to me ;)
Hugs,
Sue

Nancy, everytime I read your blog I find out that you and I have more and more in common. I am the same way. I keep the house neat as a pin (even Kelly said it is probably never a mess), but don't open any of my closets or cabinet in the built-ins or armoires. They are all crammed full. I keep saying I am going to clean them out, but I am such a procrastinater. Since you can't see it, it is o.k. with me. Thanks for sharing. You are definitely braver than me. Lol...Kim

Hey, that's what doors are for! Anyway, perfect people are boring...and a little scary.

Stacey said...

My confession is similar. I do not like clutter anywhere in my house. However, when you open some of the cabinets..stand back! Things might fall at you.

Also, the master shower...well, let's not even talk about it.

Bo said...

Oh Nancy...When I saw your armoire I thought it was a picture of mine...LOL...really...mine is stuffed with pillows, decor items & a TV I never watch anymore... I am sort of, kind of a neatnic, but as I keep accumulating things, I have to hide them under beds, in closets & the armoire...I often wonder what my estate sale will look like to whomever conducts it..
You are a delight! ;-) Bo

LOL!!! Oh Nancy -- girl, I thought I was looking in my own house! The only thing is ... your pantry shelves -- that is how I would expect mine to look AFTER I cleaned them out.

Too funny, Nancy! My closets and drawers are picture perfect most of the time, but my bed gets made only about once a month. You can usually write your name in the dirt on my car, and the garage is awful, too, but that's hubby's department and he most certainly does not care one whit what it looks like!

Have a great day!

p.s. Love the new blog design.

Have I told you lately that I LOVE YOU NANCY! Well it's true...I totally ♥ you. You just made me feel so much better about my own messes. I figure if a classy, put together, got it goin on lady like you has a closet like that...then I'm ok too! YAY you for showing us behind the doors!

Glad to see other people do have areas no one can see. Although after moving from a large and new big house to a small house to live the simple country life, it has been hard deciding what to get rid of and what to keep. Where to add on? Thanks for being honest.

Love your post! I have to admit, I'm a neat nick. Having a lot of company keeps me hopping with that, I guess. I do need to organize my garage a little better.

I love your front door and both your porches. You have a beautiful home. Don't stress over the closets.

HEYYYY your just like me! Everything looks clean just dont open anything up! lol....I love that pantry,,,not sure I would clean it but I would love having it.

Hi, Nancy girl...well, I am delighted to see you blogging more than once a week now.
I, too, go thru these periods where I think I will only do it once a week and then...ideas for posts start roaming around in my head and...I'm off again! My biggest problem is that I got into doing SPECIAL DAY every day of the week..Wore me out, trying to come up with blogging material. Not fun..I would like to blogg just normal for awhile...
I have ALWAYS wanted a pretty, clean and straight house...but...my closets and drawers were another matter all together. I have to MAKE myself clean closets...it is not my thing, either. So...your closets DO NOT LOOK BAD TO ME...I have some just like 'em!!
hugs, bj

LOL Nancy! It is so sweet of you to be so honest with US! It really does help to know each of us have our flaws...we are all less than perfect, and that is okay!

My pantry looks just about like yours. My daughter totally organized my closet last summer and since then I've been trying really hard to keep up with it. It's so much easier to choose clothing that way!

I have been wondering about your floral class. It seems it was in early April. Have you had it yet? And??? Are you now my biggest competitor? :)

By the way, I just love your profile picture...such a pretty lady. ;)

Nancy,
I'm happy to see that you are a "little" like me. I FINALLY cleaned my closet last Saturday....only because I couldn't find something. It's amazing how I let something that no one sees go undone. I love it now...hope it stays that way. Have a great Easter!

Hi Nancy, I'm just like you! Everything you can see in the house is always straight and orderly, but open a closet or kitchen cabinet and your in trouble! I've been going through closets and cleaning out a little, but it's going to take a while! Your pantry is not bad at all, mine (if you call it a pantry) is terrible.

That fruit pizza looks so yummy! I want a piece! I would love that recipe if you can get it. Kristen

Nancy - I loved that post! If I can hide it life is good - ya know, "out of sight, out of mind" - hehe. My biggest problem is my garage - it is filled with all those projects like "I'll make something out of that - SOMEDAY". I like for my house to be in order but the garage - well, that's a whole 'nother world out there!!! And by the way, I don't blame you a bit on easing up on the blogging - it becomes a bit overwhelming at times and we all understand that. Enjoy life - and we'll enjoy your posts when you feel like it! Many blesssings and I hope you had a beautiful Easter. Cathy
