~Living With Color 1~

The next few weeks, I want to explore living with color. Trend decoraters may say that color is out, but I say color never went out! Many people stay with neutrals because that is their safety zone...but I hope to give you some color confidence over the next few weeks, and take that step out of your comfort zone. Color will set the mood in a room....it will energize, enlighten, calm or inspire. . Thinking about color choices are a personal preference, sometimes it can be a hue of a color you simply love. A hue of a memory,{such as a wedding color, a favorite dress color, a childhood bedroom color}, a hue of a fabric color, a favorite flower color, or a tone from your favorite season. It can be a way a color makes you feel...such as energized, calm, romantic, happy, or peaceful. With out a doubt, you have a favorite color...maybe a color you are drawn to, you like to wear that color a lot, you always pick items of that color....Your home is a canvas for you to create your domestic artistry~ Let's talk RED. Red is 1 of 3 primary colors. Red is a primary color because it can not be mixed from any other colors.

Red will radiate warmth and energize any room. Accessorise with Red. Red will put that POP into decor. Don't you love this kitchen?!

Red is the color of life itself. In nature it is the color of attraction...red male cardinals draws the attention of the female; red flowers draw the hummingbirds.

Red is a warm welcoming color.Red in the kitchen is more stimulating for the appetite; more energizing. In this white kitchen the red adds the warmth.

In this kitchen red adds the interest and energy.

Red is dramatic.....

But red is also elegant and luxurious.

Love the touches of Red in this bedroom. Very feminine with a little masculine touch at the foot of the bed ;)

Just a little red will radiate warmth.

Love the touches of the red in this bathroom!
It takes confidence to decorate with RED. It is a color that can go from masculine to feminine; modern to country and everything in between. Red is a color of warmth and interest! I hope you have learned a little about red and that you will incorporate a little red into your own style. Next week we will talk Jewels.
News: I will not be posting the again until the end of the week. I am undergoing a blog make over that I won in Beth's giveaway at I am heading towards my destiny. Thank you so much to Beth for this fantastic giveaway! I am very excited about this change and can not wait until it is finished. Tara will be working on this transformation over the next couple of days; so please excuse any construction dust...lol ;) One more piece of news...I am updating my blog list...trying not to miss anyone! Some of the blogs I watch and some of the blogs I had on my list on my blog were not the same. I will be working on fixing this for the next few days and if I miss anyone...please let me know! I am sure I will make a mess out of it..lol :)
Edited Note: Most of the pictures came from Country Living and BHG. Speaking of Country Living...have y'all seen the new Country Living Magazine this Month?! It is fantastic, they have a new editor and I am proud to say she is from the South! I love y'all Northern Babes too! I don't know if they are planning to go more cottage country or not...but If they are going more towards the style they have this month...I'm signing up! Grab you a copy of it! It won't disappoint!

Blessings to you all, Nancy

Ok, I'm convinced...I love red...and that kitchen! Congrats on winning Beth's giveaway. I never saw who won it. There is a way to synchronize your blogroll and those you follow on your dashboard. Susan at a Southern Daydreamer did a post on how to do it, and it's very easy. She's on one of my Wednesday buttons on my sidebar, if you're interested in reading her post. Only problem is, if you're like me, and have reached your 200 following limit, you may have more on your blogroll.

I'm a color lovin' gal myself. I think it stems from living in military housing where all of the walls had to stay pristinely white.

Every picture you selected was gorgeous. I love red! I don't have alot red in my home but have mainly gone the burgandy route...a little splash of it here and there!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE RED -- splashes of red here and there. I should take pictures of all of my red too. No walls -- just accessories.

I love the pictures you chose!

And you're welcome on the makeover! I pray it will be exactly what you want!

I love this post! Red is one of my absolute favorite colors to wear and decorate with!! You're right, it is so warm & inviting! Yay for RED!

Oh, and I have a totally unrelated question...how were you able to put things on either side of your posts? Like, your blog roll on the left and your followers on the right? I've always been curious about that!

Hi Nancy...

I have always LOVED the REDS!! Three years ago, when Tom and I moved into our new home, I painted the long walls (where the kitchen cabinets are) RED!! I loved it. Tom loved it. We accessorized throughout the house, with splashes of red.

Then...I noticed something odd, for me at least...I was getting a bit "hyper"...and thought perhaps it was the RED. So, slowly, I eliminated red accessories. Then, with much success at calming myself, I painted over the RED in the kitchen. That has made a HUGE difference in how I feel...and even in how much food I consume. (All of the RED has been gone for nearly 2 years...and I've lost about 50# during those 2 years!!)

Now...my latest colors are soft pink, creams (like tea-dyed), blue...and of course, ROSES! I know that's not a color...but the ROSES sure are!!!

As I complete my re-decorating...since I had to re-do the entire house...I will be sharing my make-overs!!

;-) Jan

Ever since I was a little girl, red has always been my favorite color; therefore your post today drew me in! Loved looking at those pictures and reading what you had to say about the color red.

Thanks for your comments about my fabric choices. I feel good about them. The one with quails calls my name! ;)

Oh congrats on the blog makeover!

I love red. Deep rich reds. I even have a touch of red in my blue and white kitchen with yellow walls. I have a checker book plaid ring binder cook book my mom bought me in 59 or 60, as a collectible to give me when I grew up and moved out. (you be be surprised at how many people want me to give or sell that book to them... my mom would kill me!) I I think it is a BH&G or a betty crocker. See it all day long and still cannot remember. I keep the book sitting out on a blue coated cast iron cook book holder thingy.

Can't wait to see your bloggy makeover!
