I was going to save this recipe for another post, but I could not wait to share it. So here it is. ~Mississippi Mud Cake~ I know everybody has made this cake, but this is my favorite recipe for this one! Delish and Easy, and a Real Crowd Pleaser! It's rich and fudgy frosting poured over a layer of mini marshmallows atop a brownie like cake, and Oh, so moist!!!
1 1/3 c. all purpose flour, 1/4 t. salt, 2 c. sugar. 1/2c. baking cocoa, 1 c. butter or margarine, melted, 4 eggs beaten, 1t. vanilla, 2 c. mini marshmallows, 1/4 c. butter or margarine, 1/3c. baking cocoa, 2/3 c. milk, 16 oz. box powdered sugar sifted.
Stir together first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla....stirring until smooth. Spread into a greased 13x9 pan. Bake at 325 for 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.....Then, sprinkle hot cake with mini marshmallows.
Fudge Icing, Combine 1/4 cup butter, 1/3 cup baking cocoa and milk in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly with wire whisk, and boil one minute. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar a little at a time. Immediately pour chocolate mixture over marshmallows. Let cake cool completely on a wire rack. cut into squares. I have to tell you, my cake did not get a chance to cool!!! We enjoyed it warm....Wonderful is all I can say!!!!
Take a shortcut! You can substitute a brownie mix for the cake batter recipe, just remember, to use a brownie mix for a 13x9 pan.
To get picture perfect slices from this rich cake, cover and chill it overnight before slicing it. I think it would be tooooo hard to wait that long!
Annie 100, I want to thank you for all your comments! I have tried to email you or comment you, but if you have a blog it's not coming up for me. You ask me a question about the picture frame with the W......all I did was print it off the computer...I think I did it under Works or Word Pad....I can't remember for sure, because I use both of them. You can change out your font styles on those programs and You can make them as large as you want....You may have to try a couple of different sizes before you find the one that will work for your project! I hope I have answered your question! Thanks for asking!!!
Well, there you have it....my Saturday finds.....some new trimming for tassels and a recipe, boy I could Edit a Magazine...LOL. I know this has been a long post, and if you have stayed with it....Thank You! I do hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL weekend! Thank you everybody who takes the time out of your day to stop by and leave a comment, I can't tell you how I and My whole family enjoys reading them....even hubby loves to read them! Blessings to you all, Nancy

I love all your yard sale finds! I rarely drag my rear out of bed in time to get there and find the good stuff though! That cake sounds delish! I'll have to try the recipe sometime.
Oh, and I'm heading over to try the Dovetales magazine again. Thanks for the help!
Hi Nancy!
You found some lovely yard sale things today!! I love that birdcage. The cake looks delicious - I'll have to make one some day this week! Yummm!!
Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Erin
Great finds...I love that scrolly box thingie! I can think of a million and one uses for that! I would think alot of stores have the little lengths of trims that are too short to sell. You should haunt those places and ask them. You'd probably get all sorts of trims really cheap!
I am so jealous of your tassel trims. I have been making tassels and it is addictive!!!
Good luck with your garage sale!
I love the bird cage. I would have grabbed it too. Those chairs will be beautiful. I will try that recipe one day soon.
I love that iron scrolly thing. I can see lots of creative uses for that one. I can't wait to see how you fix up the chairs and the birdcage too. I keep seeing tassels all over blogland - I can't wait to see the ones you are going to create with all your new goodies.
I have never made that cake, but it sounds yummy and I will definitely give it a whirl (I love to cook and bake).
Hi Nancy , great bargain in the birdcage girl . Can't wait to see what you do to it.
Great yard sale finds! Love the scroll box thingy!!
Oh man, I sure wish I lived closer to you. I bet I could find lots of goodies at your yard sale :)
How sweet of the lady at the fabric store to hook you up with all that trim....can't wait to see all the pretty tassels you will be making :)
Tracey

Oh goodness, I would have snatched up those two chairs in a New York minute!! $10 ~ you stole them.
Blessings,
Sher
LOL Nancy, All of my posts are long. I either have a lot of say/post, or nothing! LOL! But, I am getting better! I'm not good at splitting it up. But I enjoyed your long post! So don't apologize! :) I LOVE your white metal thingie! I don't know what they are either, but they are really pretty! ...and fit in with your decor perfectly! Your other finds are great too! I wish you lived closer! I need your help putting back my "stuff" now! After we added mouldings, tile, and some paint, doors, and hardware, it has changed the whole feel of the house...for the better I think! I was too "modern" for our tastes, but we knew that when we moved in and had plans to redo down the road. Now some decor is working and others are not! LOL! And I am trying to use what I have, LOL! ...I'll just keep browsing your blog for inspiration and ideas to put it all back together! :)
Hope you have a great weekend! ~Rhonda
Hi Nancy,
Looks like you have some great finds! Those chairs were certainly price right...and the iron thing will be great to use for decorating!
Hope you have a wonderful day.
Diane
Hi Nancy,
GREAT finds...I LOVE that iron box thing. Too CUTE!! Those chairs will look fabulous after a make-over. What a great deal on all the trims for the tassels...that is GREAT of that lady to bring it all out!!
I can't believe you got those chairs for that price! Way to go!
Now that cake recipe...I will definitely have to try that. Only problem...I think I need to go on a diet!
Hi Nancy! Glad you're better! That iron thingy I have one similar I got at Homegoods and I love it! I've had it in my powder room with towels in it, and on my island with lemons, lots of things work! I am so jealous of the trim, I want to make pillows and am upset by how much a yard of trim costs these days (more than all the fabric I used!lol) Love that birdcage too! You scored big time! Have a great week - Sincerely, Jeannette
I love that wire thingy on your table..not sure what i would do yet but I do love it. I planned my attack on estate sales this up coming weekend--I'm always on the lookout for lace, linens, old quilts and pretty dishes.
The iron scroll thingy looks like a bird cage. I've seen these things in all sizes, very elegant!
