~Down-Home Chicken & Noodles~&~Grilled Cheese~

Who likes Grilled Cheese???? Well, around here grilled cheese is a staple! I am always thinking of ways to make it different. Add ham, bacon, or tomatoes. One of my favorite ways is to make it is with french bread! You can slice it as thick as you want to, we like it pretty thick... it's so good and you can't just stop with one! I slice it on a angle to make it a little larger. Once you try it with french bread, you will never fix them with regular bread again!

This is a recipe from one of my Gooseberry Patch books...I had never made it before, but I thought it sounded good. If you like it more soupy just adjust with chicken stock. Here's the recipe:

Down-Home Chicken & Noodles

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts

salt and pepper to taste

2 10 3/4 oz. cans cream of chicken soup

14 1/2 oz. can chicken broth

16 oz. pkg. wide egg noodles, cooked

Place chicken in a slow cooker: sprinkle with salt and pepper. Top with both cans of soup. Cover and cook on low setting for 6 hours, or until chicken falls apart. Remove chicken from slow cooker and shred, then return to slow cooker; add broth and cooked noodles. Mix well. Cover and cook on low setting for an additional 30 min. or until heated through. Serves 6

Gals, this smells so good when it is cooking, I couldn't wait to taste it. There are 4 of us and there wasn't any left over, but my guys are big eaters. Hope y'all have a great day! Nancy

You have no idea how hungry you just made me! I've been sick for the last several days and my appetite is gone (which NEVER happens) I saw that grilled cheese and chicken & noodles and my tummy is growling big time. It just looks like the kind of warm yummy food that would make you feel better. I even think I can handle that recipe! It's simple enough for us cooking challenged!

Delicious! Have got to try the grilled cheese on French bread.

Saw your message on my blog and will keep you up to date with the fall color around here. It looks like we may not have much. This drought ruined it last year and it's not looking great this year. So far just a few tinges of red on the mountain. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe it will brighten up a bit.

Nancy

I just had to tell you that for the FIRST TIME ever I decided to make one of the recipes that someone posted on their blogs. I hate to cook so I rarely try new recipes....but I went down to the grocery store this morning and bought all the stuff to make the chicken & noodles. It looked easy and I'm excited to put it in the crockpot. I'm just waiting to time it so it's done when Steve gets home. I just wanted to say THANKS for sharing this!
