~Born To Shop, Forced To Cook~

Born To Shop, Forced To Cook~ Girls, I like to Cook, but I love to Shop! Yesterday, I went to visit Vanessa at http://lawsymercy.blogspot.com/ she had posted that she was a CookBookAholic, and let me tell you, I believe her, boy does that girl have the cook books! So, here you go Vanessa, this is for you girl..I don't have near the cook books that she has, but I do have some good ones. Hope y'all enjoy my little cook book tour......and girls, get out those cook books and let us see them. Nancy

This is the cabinet that I keep my cook books in....we bought this about 5 yrs ago at a antique store over in Clinton, TN.....It's just the perfect spot for those books! This little Boyd's Bear was given to me by a great friend.....she knows me like a book! It sits right in there with all those wonderful books.....lol

This is a recipe box that my mother bought YEARS ago, it's old and rusty....but the childhood memories of my mom going through that box are priceless....I begged her for it for years and finally she gave it to me.
This is a small collection of recipes from the Apple Barn....Girls, if you ever come to East Tennessee and go to Pigeon Forge......The Apple Barn is a must.....It is a restaurant that has the best home cooking you can by out!!! Be prepared to wait a long long time for a table....week nights are not as bad as weekends.
These are a few of the recipes that I keep planning to put into a personal scrap book, for myself, I need to get off this puter and get that done!

OH, my goodness....There's Ms Paula....Y'all know she can cook and I love her recipes. Every one of the ones I have made turned out perfect.....These are a must buy if you don't have them!
Here is another Hope Chest item given to me from my Grandmother....girls, this is soooo old and some of the recipes that my grandmother made out of this book, I still make today.
This is some of the recipes that are written in my Grandmothers hand write....I have them tucked into that book....another priceless treasure!

Hershey's knows how to cook....there is some great pie and cake recipes in this one!
Pampered Chef....WOW....they know how to do it too. Wish I had more of their books! That's it for this tour....I came across a few recipes, that I will be sharing with you soon....a couple of great cakes that I had forgot about....Now, I am off to the kitchen to get started....I will be checking in on all you later tonight.....Hope you all have a great day! Nancy

I LOVE your Boyds bear Born to Shop Forced to Cook....it truly is the perfect saying for me too. I have some kind of infatuation with cook books. I love to buy them but really don't cook out of them that much. I know I am really weird. I don't have a pretty cabinet like you to store mine, but now that I am thinking about it I might have the perfect spot... hmmmmm....put that thought among all the other things I have going on right now. :)

Hi Nancy...

I only have about 20-25 cookbooks now. I just recently got rid of about 200 of them!! I've also got my own on-line cookbook of my recipes, as well as my favorites from cookbooks, newspapers, TV shows and of course, Paula Deen and Ina Garten. In all total, this cookbook contains about 2,500 recipes.

I LOVE to cook and I LOVE to shop Estate/Yard/Garage sales!!!

And I love the Hershey's books! They have some amazing recipes too! Where did you find the cute towel holder over your cabinet...I love it! Oh, and the recipes from your grandmother, they are priceless, what a treasure!

Thank you so much for the award! I am so honored to be honored by you! :) You are one of my blogland heroes and I just love your sense of decorating style! I would love to be your neighbor! :)

I tried my hand at making a few tassels yesterday! They were so much fun, weren't they! Yours turned out great! ~Rhonda :)

Hi Nancy,
I love your cabinet. I really don't like to cook that much. I wish I liked it better. LOL

I love the title of this post!! Made me laugh. I've learned the secret of not being forced to cook....I do it REALLY BADLY! That way whenever I say...."oh I'll just make dinner"...there is a resounding NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we'll eat out! It works like a charm! LOL

Your cookbook cabinet is gorgeous Nancy! I don't have but a small space in the island for mine. I have an eighth of them in there and then the rest are piled in the pantry. I'm waiting for fall to organize them and start to cookin' like I was before it got so darn hot :)

My mom has one of those recipe holders too. Don't you just love it?!

Hi Nancy! I love your cabinet that you store those cookbooks in. How perfect! I am like you- love to cook, but it's getting tricky with my four-year-old. :( I used to wait to get my Southern Living issue and then cook out of it until the next issue came along. When I lived in Shreveport, they had the best cooking section in the paper and I have hundreds of recipes clipped from the 12 years we lived there. I haven't done so much cooking with my husband in Iraq- getting antsy to start cooking again this fall!

Oooh...I NEED a cabinet like yours for my recipe/cook books! I love them and mine are always a mess. I've been to the Apple Barn many times. It really is a unique place and has wonderful food. Nothing in the world like food in East Tennessee!
