~College and Drive By In Sequayah Hills~

Good Afternoon! It's been a while since my last post, I do apologise for that! I ask for all of you to keep us in your prayers and I menthioned I was stressed! I really appreciate all of you that come by and left comments! I will be coming to visit all of you very soon. Well, here I go. I do believe that all of my blogging friends are Christians, and you will understand the following news....I have already posted before about my oldest son Alex, he graduated from highschool in June. In May he was accepted to ITT college, his major is Criminal Justice. His first day of class was June 9, he has never missed a day of class or been late and he has been making all A's. His Teachers have been very impressed with his work, thus far. On July 8, his advisor approached him and told him they had made a mistake in accepting him. Reason....Alex had graduated from a category 4 high school in Tennessee, and they don't accept students from category 4 schools...Alex was told to go get his GED and come back in the fall...What's a category 4 school? I'm glad you ask. The state of TN defines category 4 schools as a religion/church based school, also home schooling falls under category 4 as well. Tennessee declared in May of this year that high school diplomas from a category 4 school is worthless, we are the second state to do this, the first was CA. Now, let me give you some background on the school. The school Alex graduated from has been in business for 31 years. I also graduated from the same school in 1988. All of the teachers have degrees from the University of TN. We have many students who have graduated from, or are now attending The University of Tennessee, Pellissippi State , Tennessee Tech, and Walter's State Community College just to name a few. We have graduates who now are successful business persons, nurses, F.B.I. and law enforcement officers. Their admission into institutions of higher learning has Never been brought into question. Back to ITT, the state of TN....ITT says because they are a private college they can set their own rules....When Tn made this declaration about category 4 schools, they added a memo which allows colleges to use this in a case by case situation....ITT will not bend. We have had our Attorney on this and it is so complected, I won't go in to all that.... Now, you know why I have been so stressed. I believe we are living in the last days. Christains have to take a stand! I hope I haven't bored you and I hope I have explained this in a way you can understand. If anyone has any questions, send them my way or if anyone knows something I don't know, I am open to learning something new. Any advise will be apprecitated. We are not giving up the fight!!!

On to something better...A few days ago we went to Sequayah Hills in Knoxville. This is an older subdivision that sets along the Tennessee River. It's also very close to The University of Tennessee. There are new homes and homes that are probably 50 years old in this area. It is a subdivision that everyone wants to live in! Every home is very well kept with unusual detailing and beautiful gardens. Hope you enjoy the tour. Click on the Pictures to enlarge. Nancy

Morning girl..sorry about your situation with your son's school..I pray that all things will work out and that the Lord will be the Lord of this situation and that it will all turn out to be what is best for you son...God has a plan for each of us and sometimes when we see a door shut we panic and don't even see the new one that God is opening...I'm not saying that door is shut...I am just saying believe that all things will work together for the good because believe me when God opens a door no man can shut it...I loved the house tour by the way...beautiful pics. have a great day sweetie!

THAT makes me angry!!! All my children attend private christian school, and I have tons of friends who homeschool so I understand how ridiculous this can be. (((hugs and prayers)))

Nancy, That really scares and saddens me! My children attend a private christian school, and have since Kindergarten. Ashley will be a sophomore this year! I feel that they are getting a great education, and are in a Christian enviroment! They have to take the state standardized tests....just like public schools. ...oh, I can't even say what I am feeling right now.... But, I do hope that it works out for you son, and will keep him, and you all in our prayers!

The tour of houses was great!

Hugs, Rhonda

Nancy, I am very glad that the ITT situation worked out well for your son. As I read the reason for basically wanting to 'kick' him out of school I was astounded! Unbelievable (but I believe you). God worked all things out -- but it's amazing what 'they' tried to do here. I hope their commitment to retain your son as a student holds.

BTW, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the pillows on your blog. Maybe I should have my husband come visit your blog so he realizes he's not alone!
