~Let the Celebration Begin!~Cooking, Decorating, and Update on Alex~

Good Morning~ This post has so many titles, I didn't know which one to use, so I used them all. Update on Alex and ITT~ Let the Celebration Begin!!! He's back in!!!!!! After our attorney looking into this memo that the state of Tennessee had set up in May, and talking with the Tennessee Board of Higher Education, it was evident that ITT was misinterpreting the memo....The memo only gives private colleges the right to refuse students that graduate from a category 4 school, it doesn't state that they have to refuse them. They are to consider each student in a case by case situation. Anyway, Itt's attorney called our attorney on Monday at 5:00 and said, get in touch with Alex and tell him to be back in class at 6:00, when we got the phone call, let me tell you the celebration begin! Alex went straight to classes on Monday night and Tuesday night and will go again today. Everyone from ITT has been so nice, several have called me to let me know that they are so appreciative of everything we did...to stand against this. We are just so happy and thankful that everything has worked out for Alex. I want to thank everyone that has helped us pray and for all your concern and comments. You all don't know what it meant to have all you blogging friends that I could talk to about this!! I really appreciate you all. Nancy

Okay, back to normal for a while anyway...lol:) I thought I would post a few pics, some of the house and a couple of my favorite foods. Hope you all enjoy. Nancy

~This table sits in the great room, it is on the same wall as the steps~ I am always changing the decor on this table.

~ See the pillow in chair, it's leopard print and I bought it at a yard sale for $1~
~ This tapestry runner belonged to my grandmother, she used in to top of her cedar chest, which I have it also. I don't know how old it is, but my mom said she could remember granny having it when she (my mom) was a little girl, and my mom is now 72. I just love it, some day I will do a post on Treasures from my Grandmother....I have so many and I am so proud to decorated with them in my home.~

Fresh Green Bean, grown local in Grainger County. These are White Half Runners or Half White Runners, I can never remember which comes first...lol:) They are so good, no matter what you call them. They are my favorite green been, I could eat them everyday with fresh corn on the cob and Grainger Co tomatoes, oh, and fried okra, and corn bread. Well, you get the picture...this is really the best time of the year for eating except for the holidays!!! Oh, btw, Grainger Co, Tn is know for there tomatoes....They have a tomato festival every year. It's coming up soon, I will post about it when I go. Once you eat a Grangier Co tomato you will never want another kind, I'm not kidding!!!
~Chocolate Cake!! Love me some chocolate cake....I made this special to celebrate Alex going back to college. Home made.....not from a box or can. Let me tell you, this icing is my favorite...You all have probably made it before, but just in case, here's the recipe..

1/2 cup of butter, softened, 1 box of confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup baking cocoa, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 6-8 tablespoons milk, cream butter. Combine the confectioners' sugar and cocoa, gradually add to butter. Beat in the vanilla and enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Frost the cake. You can add nuts if you want. Refrigerate till ready to serve.....Hmmmm it's soooo goooood!!! Hope you all have a great day and thanks again for all the prayers and thoughts...I will keep you posted of any changes!! Nancy

Oh I am SO HAPPY that he is back in school - yes! I know we don't know each other, but I was really upset when I read your post, and I've actually had you and your family on my mind. Yes, time to celebrate indeed. Your home is so beautiful, and I could taste the chocolate cake!

Nancy, I must tell you what a lovely time I have had looking at your blog this late night! White Half Runners - oh, the many times I sat on my mothers swing and broke those for her! I was born in Maryville Tennessee. My parents still live in Walland and I now live in Michigan. I will, in fact, be going for a visit in August and again in October. I can hardly wait to see the mountains again that remain in my heart! I am so excited I found your lovely blog. I will be sure to stop by again!
Thanks for the reminder of home!
